Kristin's mother was gifted at sculpting and painting, and with her encouragement Kristin was doing both by age three.
Kristin studied art at the University of Colorado (Phi Beta Kappa, 1969) and UNM, though her degrees are in Anthropology and Latin American Studies, respectively. From 1975 to 1980, she ran the family gallery in Old Town Albuquerque, The Painted Parrott. She has exhibited her drawings in galleries in Seattle, Taos and San Francisco. Currently, Kristin's work is represented at Mama's Minerals and Amapola Gallery in Albuquerque.
Her most recent sculpting passion is working with stone. She studied with Lakota carver Delbert Charging Crow, and has been carving like a madwoman for the past 12 years, using files, rasps and chisels, but no power tools.
Kristin has lived in Iran, Liberia and five U.S. states, and traveled over much of the world. This varied and interesting background influences all of her work. Kristin says about her artwork, "Each of my pieces is a meditation, affirmation and prayer."
