To many tribes the Coyote, named after the Aztec word Coyotl, is a symbol of laughter, humor, foolishness, and the master trickster who tricks himself. Many tribes also associate the Coyote with stories of creation of the stars, and credit him for bringing knowledge to the people.
This stylized Coyote Fetish is hand-carved in New Mexico by Herman Yazzie from Jet, with Turquoise accents. Standing almost two inches tall, this Coyote is also signed by the artist on the bottom.
