Selenite is a white, crystalline form of Gypsum that is often described as having a moon-like glow—hence the name, from the Greek "selene," meaning moon. The beautiful sphere glows in the light and because of Selenite's fiber optic properties, it looks awesome with any lighted display stand.
Size will range from approx. 2.5” to 3” but will vary slightly.
Mineralogy: Selenite is a form of Gypsum composed of hydrous calcium sulfate. It is called Selenite when it is relatively clear with well-formed crystal structure. Selenite comes in a variety of colors including clear, orange, gray, and green. Selenite is an evaporative mineral most commonly found in evaporated seas, salt flats, salt springs, and clay beds.
