Mineralogical Properties: Citrine is a variety of quartz that gains its yellow shades from a submicroscopic distribution of colloidal ferric hydroxide impurities. It is primarily produced in Brazil. Most citrine on the market is heat treated to a bright yellow-orange to orange-brown color. Natural citrine is hard to find commercially and is a yellow-grey color.
