  • Seymchan Meteorite Pendant. 3/4" x 1 1/4" meteorite with a total length of 1 3/4" with bail.

Sliced Seymchan meteorite with a clear resin coat to prevent rust in a stainless steel pendant. Seymchan is a pallasite meteorite found in the dry bed of the river Hekandue, a left tributary of river Jasačnaja in the Magadan district, Russia, near the settlement of Seymchan, in June 1967. It's a rare type of meteorite which typically contains both metal and olivine crystals. These pendants do not contain olivine crystals.

The sliced Seymchan Meteorites displays a beautiful Widmanstätten patterns. Widmanstätten patterns are long nickel-iron crystals in the structure of the meteorite. The patterns are formed when molten iron and nickel cool and harden, creating an interlocking structure. The Widmanstätten pattern is a key identifier for classifying iron meteorites. The pattern varies among meteorites, depending on the cooling rate and the specific alloy composition. The pattern can be exposed by etching the meteorite with acid, which reveals the different etching rates of kamacite and taenite.
